Today, October 20, Haile Gebrselassie, 34, new
marathon world record holder, is in Detroit to support a
dinner raising funds for the Ethiopian North American
Health Professionals Association (ENAHPA), an
organization founded by Detroit cardiac physician Dr.
Ingida Asfaw, dedicated to alleviating the severe health
care crisis in Ethiopia.

The dinner, called "Faces of Ethiopia". Gebrselassie is
an honorary chair of ENAHPA's Faces of Ethiopia
Inaugural Dinner and attend the event, held on at the
Detroit Downtown Marriott Renaissance Center. The fund
raising dinner event would help fund future missions and
provide a wide range of health and human services
programs for Ethiopia. Gebrselassie presents was set up
to increase attention for the fund-raiser.

On Sunday October 21, 2007, Haile Gebrselassie will be
one of the more than 15,000 athletes participating in the
30th running of the Detroit
Free Press/Flagstar
Marathon.
Because his visit is occurring on marathon weekend, he
agreed to run briefly in the event.

As we know, two months ago, Gebrselassie won the New
York City Half Marathon in 59 minutes, 24 seconds -- the
second fastest time in the U.S. and his eighth victory in
his last eight half marathons.

Marathon Director Patricia Ball said "We are excited to
have Haile participate in the Marathon; we've never had
anyone of this magnitude to participate in the race
before."

Beautifully shot, and scored, this film elevates
documentaries over the paucity of ideas and
emotional depth of fictionalized films. Well worth
seeing it.
