February 7 is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
Take Action
There are many ways Blacks can take action in the fight against HIV/AIDS:
- get tested for HIV
- practice safe methods to prevent HIV
- decide not to engage in high risk behaviors
- talk about HIV prevention with family, friends, and colleagues
- provide support to people living with HIV/AIDS
- get involved with or host an event for National Black HIV/AIDS

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
The Facts
Blacks are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS. While making up only 13
percent of the U.S. population, they account for more than 49 percent of AIDS
cases. AIDS is now the leading cause of death for Black women ages 25 to
34, and the second leading cause of death for Black men ages 35 to 44.
